Wie mich die Windsurf-Leidenschaft packte? Das erfährst Du hier!

How my passion for windsurfing first caught my attention? Find out here!

From a Saxon lake to a surfing mecca:How my passion for windsurfing caught me

You're probably here because, like me, you know the incomparable feeling of the wind grabbing your sail. But did you know how I got into windsurfing? The answer is surprising and takes us back to my hometown, right in the middle of the coronavirus pandemic.

When you see my windsurfing T-shirtsor windsurfing hoodies, there is a piece of this story in every design.

The long road to the board: My start in Saxony

You might expect my surfing roots to lie on the North Sea or Baltic Sea, but no! My very first encounter with windsurfing was at the Cossebaude reservoirnear Dresden.

My husband had discovered windsurfing years before. He was the pioneer, and me? For a long time, I was the patient companion on the beach and looked after our child. But then came 2020– the time of lockdown and sudden leisure. I decided: It was now or never!

2020: The 4-day course that changed everything

In the summer of 2020, I took the plunge and took an intensive four-day course at the reservoir. Four days of battling with the sail, balancing, and of course... falling into the water. It was tough, but my ambition had taken over. On the last day,I proudly held my windsurfing license in my hands!

From then on, it happened: I was a windsurfer. I experienced this new passion as a liberation in an otherwise limited time. Windsurfing wasn't just a sport; it became my lifestyle.

My windsurfing home: The Netherlands & Brouwersdam

Once you've been kissed by wind and waves, you're always looking for the next spot. It quickly became clear to us that our vacations would have only one goal: windsurfing by the sea! Although we favored the north, because it's simply too hot for me in the southern regions during the summer holidays. While we're fortunate that our home spot is only a 6-minute drive away, the wind here, in the northern area of Karlsruhe, is rather fickle.

One place particularly caught our attention: the Brouwersdam. It's known for its ideal conditions and is simply a perfect destination for windsurfing enthusiasts. The atmosphere there, the vastness – it's pure freedom. I've further improved my skills there by successfully passing further exams and feel increasingly confident and comfortable on the board.

The jump to the windsurfing online shop

This intense love for windsurfing, the constant feeling of freedom and the cool surf vibes on the water eventually inspired me to pursue more than just a hobby.

I wanted to capture these emotions and make them wearable! This is how the idea for safis.shop was born. Every windsurfing quoteon a T-shirtand every windsurfing motifon a hoodieis inspired by these experiences, from the Cossebaude reservoir to the Brouwersdam, or even by YOU, and designed by me personally.

It's more than just clothing. It's a statement, a reminder of your last session, and a prelude to your next trip!
