Hey windsurfing fans!
If you're like me, you probably constantly dream of the perfect spot: sun on your face, wind in your sails, and that incredible feeling when you glide over the water. But where do you actually find the best places in Germany and Europe to experience just that? Don't worry—I've compiled a few of my favorites that you should definitely put on your bucket list.
1. Fehmarn – The classic on the Baltic Sea
Fehmarn is like that old friend you keep getting sold to. The wind here is reliable, the beaches are super relaxed, and the waves offer enough action for beginners and advanced surfers alike. Tip: If you're up for a little competition with friends, grab your board and test your skills at the southern tip of the island—this spot is a real insider tip!
2. St. Peter-Ording – Pure North Sea
The North Sea is known for its strong winds – and St. Peter-Ording delivers just that. Here, you can surf for miles along the beach without constantly having to watch out for others. For those looking for a bit more adrenaline, the waves are a dream. A quick warning: The wind can be quite strong here, so it's best to check your equipment beforehand to make sure it's up to the task!
3. Lake Garda – Italian lightness
If you're in the mood for sun, palm trees, and the Italian dolce vita, then head to Lake Garda! The lake offers consistent wind and beautiful views. Even beginners will feel like pros here because the water is relatively calm. My tip: Go out on the water in the morning while it's still calm and end the day with a cappuccino on the shore – there's hardly a better way to start or end a windsurfing day.
4. Lac de Léman – Discover the French and Swiss sides
Lake Geneva might not be the first destination that springs to mind, but it's totally worth it. Especially if you want to test your skills on a large lake without having to venture out into the open sea. The water is clear, the spots are spacious, and after surfing, you can enjoy French or Swiss cuisine—a perfect combination of sport and enjoyment.
My tip for all windsurfing fans
Try new spots, but don't forget the basics: sunscreen, safety, and a good dose of patience with yourself. Every spot has its own character, and sometimes it takes a few tries before you feel completely comfortable.
And hey, for those breaks in between – a sustainable safis® T-shirt or hoodie not only ensures style but also comfort. After all, you'll look good after your surf adventure!
